Ramiiisol Vineyards partnered with the University of Virginia Environmental Sciences department in 2018. Together we have embarked on a long-term study of our microclimate to determine best sustainable agricultural practices relating to the continually changing conditions of our climate. Students observe and study multi-year data from detailed sensor arrays within our vineyards and their surrounds. The “autonomous rover” pictured above collects soil respiration, temperature and other data. A UVA engineering team partnered with Dr Stephen De Wekker to build the rover and test use its abilities at Ramiiisol.
