Dr Mike Mangrum
Mike is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) and is the Ted Turner Clinical Scholar in Atrial Fibrillation. He is also the Director of the Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB) Center since its inception in 2004 and served as Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Training Program for 10 years. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Rhodes College, Memphis and M.D. from the University of Tennessee. Mike completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at University of Chicago, and Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowships at the University of Virginia. He has been recognized by Castle Connolly as a top cardiac electrophysiologist for 10 consecutive years as of 2021. His primary academic interest is developing and utilizing new technologies, techniques, and innovations for mapping and ablation of atrial fibrillation. Mike is actively involved in research of novel invasive and non-invasive mapping techniques and alternative ablation energies. He is a medical advisor for Medtronic, Inc and Cardio Focus, Inc. Additionally, he has active research collaborations throughout the world and frequently lectures at international meetings in North America, Asia and Europe. In his spare time, Mike enjoys travel and drinking Ramiiisol wine.
